Illinois State Police seeking public’s help in investigation of New Lenox crash

The Illinois State Police Division is asking for the public’s assistance in its investigation of a hit-and-run crash in New Lenox that caused serious injuries.Between 3:10 and 3:19 a.m. Nov. 1, a two-car crash occurred on Interstate 80 eastbound at Maple Road, according to a news release from the ISP.A passenger exited from one of the vehicles involved on the right shoulder to assess the damage, according to the release. A passing vehicle then struck the passenger who was standing outside.The offending vehicle, described as a white, silver, or black sedan, fled the scene, the ISP said. The passenger who was struck was transported to an area hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries.Anyone with information regarding the crash or who may have dashcam video of the crash is asked to call Illinois State Police Zone 1 at 847-294-4400 or email [email protected].
