Teen gives birth at Chicago elementary school; Newborn dies — St. Charles Health news

A teen gave birth at a Chicago elementary school on Wednesday afternoon to a baby that did not make it, authorities said. Around 3 p.m., a 15-year-old girl gave birth at Aldridge Elementary School, located at 630 E. 131st St. on the Far South Side. The newborn was pronounced dead at the scene, police said, and the teen was taken to a local hospital, where she was initially listed in good condition, police said. It was not immediately clear why the teen was at the elementary school. An investigation into the incident remains ongoing, police said. Chicago Public Schools did not immediately respond to NBC Chicago s request for comment.
